The skeleton war is almost over, which means November is fast approaching. There are three weekday dramas premiering in the next month, and sadly only one of them makes me think of a whale’s stomach. Time for coming soon to drama land – the November 2014 edition. Cheers!
The Spring Day of My Life switches seasons and gives us …Mr. Baek
MBC* Fantasy /Romantic Comedy* Wednesday/Thursday* Premiering: November 5th * Starring: Shin Ha Kyung, Jang Na ra, Lee Joon, Jung Suk Won
Plot: An older man who cares only for money finds himself suddenly changed into his thirty year old self. With his life suddenly ahead of him, will he make any changes to his outlook on life?
Thoughts: The writer is from Emergency Couple. Jang Na ra is starring, and I just adore her to pieces. Same with Lee Joon, who had an amazing turn earlier this year in Gap Dong. I am more excited for the cast than the story, so I am going to sit this one out unless I start seeing amazing reviews.
My Lovely Girl figures out all the idol drama and gives us…Pinocchio
SBS* Melodrama* Wednesday/Thursday* Premiering: November 12th * Starring: Park Shin Hye, Lee Jong Suk, Lee Yubi, Kim Young Kwang
Plot: A team of news reporters work around the clock to capture news as it breaks.
Thoughts: The producer and writer previously teamed up for last year’s stellar drama I Can Hear Your Voice (also starring Lee Jong Suk). Park Shin Hye returns to drama land following her role in last year’s super buzzed about over the top The Heirs. I am interested to see what kind of lead character she ends up playing, because I loved her role in FBND but hated her in TH.
Blade man finally files down those sharp edges and gives us…The King’s Face
KBS2* Historical* Wednesday/Thursday* Premiering: November 19th * Starring: Seo In Guk, Lee Sung Jae, Jo Yoon Hee, Shin Sung Rok, Kim Gyuri
Plot: Gwanghae, the child of a concubine, becomes the crown prince of Joseon. For the next 16 years, the illegitimate prince lives through turbulent times, enduring death threats and possible dethronement. Gwanghae has a contentious relationship with his father King Seonjo, and the two eventually become rivals in politics and love. Using physiognomy as a weapon and means to gain power, Gwanghae enlists a face-reading fortuneteller to help him become the next king.
Thoughts: The producer previously worked on Gaksital and Story of a Man, both critically acclaimed dramas. Seo In Guk in a hanbok- yes please.
So, what will you be watching?
