January has come and gone and February’s drama schedule is ready and raring. There are a 2 thrillers, a melo, and a rom-com to sweeten the drama land schedule come next month. Time to take a look at what the next 28 days has in store. Cheers!
Prime Minister and I ends and gives us…Full Sun (also known as Beyond the Clouds)
KBS2 * Melodrama* Monday/ Tuesday * Premiering February 10th * Starring: Yoon Kye Sang, Choi Jin Woong, Han Ji Hye, Song Jong Ho, Kim Yoo Ri
Plot: Jung Se Ro (Yoon Kye Sang) is a swindler, an existence born of a murder case that involves stolen diamonds and the death of his father. Se Ro’s partner in crime is Park Gang Jae (Cho Jin Woong). Se Ro’s life is turned upside down as he falls in love with Han Young Won, a woman whose fiancée died because of his actions.
Thoughts: The writer is from Dream High 2, the director is of Wild Romance fame. The plot is very standard melodrama fare so I cannot say I am super excited about this one.
Warm Words ends and gives us…Gods Gift – 14 Days
SBS * Time Travel Thriller* Monday/ Tuesday * Premiering February 17th * Starring: Lee Bo Young, Cho Seung Woo, Kim Tae Woo, Baro, Lee Gi Kwang
Plot: Lee Bo Young portrays Soo Hyun, a woman whose daughter is murdered. After the tragedy Soo Hyun is given a chance to time travel back 14 days in order to stop the crime. Kim Tae Woo plays the husband with a secret, while Cho Seung Woo is the private investigator that helps Soo Hyun stop the murder.
Thoughts: Lee Bo Young is consistently phenomenal so I am really drawn to this show. There are a lot of guys in this one – the ratio to Lee Bo Young’s character is kind of ridiculous (but hey, hot guys, can’t complain). Baro is set to play a developmentally disabled character and I am thrilled to see his next steps as an actor after his turn in Answer Me 1994. Yep, this is definitely on my to-watch list. Whether I live watch or marathon, however, will remain to be seen.
Miss Korea ends and gives us…Cunning Single Lady
MBC * Romantic Comedy* Wednesday / Thursday * Premiering February 26th * Starring: Lee Min Jung, Joo Sang Wook, L
Plot: Lee Min Jung stars as Na Ae Ra, the titular cunning single lady. After marrying Cha Jung Woo (Joo Sang Wook), the two divorce. Sometime later Cha Jung Woo finds out he is an heir to a large fortune. Ae Ra makes it her mission to win back her ex, while the target of her affections makes it his mission to get revenge.
Thoughts: The plot sounds like a melo, but is a rom-com. Hmmm. I guess I will wait and see about this one. I am a fan of Joo Sang Wook so there is definitely some incentive here…
You Who Came from the Stars ends and gives us…Three Days
SBS * Thriller* Wednesday / Thursday * Premiering February 26th * Starring: Park Yoochun, Son Hyun Joo, Park Ha Sun, Yoon Je Moon, So Yi Hyun
Plot: The President of Korea (Son Hyun Joo) disappears amidst 3 gunshots. Park Yoochun plays the presidential bodyguard who rushes against the clock to find the president before it is too late. The action takes place over three action packed days as members of the Blue House try to unravel the mystery of what exactly happened to the big guy in charge.
Thoughts: The writer is of Sign and Ghost fame while the director previously worked on Tree with Deep Roots. Park Yoochun can be hit or miss, I liked him in the mess that was I Miss You but that does not mean I am a hard and fast fan of his acting. I have faith in the writer’s ability to weave an interesting tale based on her previous dramas, so I am leaning towards watching this for the writer alone.
So what will you be watching? Let us know in the comments!
So at the moment I’m drama crushing on Yoochun so I’m planning on watching 3 days even though this will be a very different drama genre for me. I really like to marathon watch dramas, so I’ll be mostly sticking to older dramas I haven’t seen yet for now.
